Recovery
Loneliness is
a city scorched
by a giant lizard
that crawled from the sea.
At night,
while stars hang
like the lights of lanternfish,
my fear is a kraken
rising.
Tentacles of worry
grip my submarine heart
pulling me down
to the abyss
Where what-ifs are bones
that line the seafloor
and memory is
a shipwreck of sorrow.
In the darkness, I launch
a solo expedition
to salvage fragments
from the remains.
