New Moon in Taurus Card Spread + Collective Reading

Coming Home to Ourselves: Looking Within to Reshape Our Perspective

The full moon in Taurus, our first since a series of eclipses in March, is an invitation to adjust our expectations and take aligned action. We are warned against keeping our desires under wraps or waiting for someone to rescue us from a challenging situation. This moon reminds us that, by shifting our perspective, we may gain more autonomy and power. Accepting reality allows us to see things as they are and to enact change that betters our lives and, in turn, the lives of those we love.

How can I deepen my sense of home?

Eight of Swords (Restriction) + Mountains

Of our six cards this month, only the Eight of Swords appears in an upright position. The message seems to be that we must reconsider our position on many issues, adjusting our perspective to align with a changing reality. Things are not as we expected or even desired them to be. But this does not mean that all is lost. The eight of Swords represents being in a state of restriction that is a product of our own limiting beliefs. Combined with the concept of the Mountain, it encourages us to gain some distance from the immediacy of our problems in order to gain some perspective and perhaps see things in a different way. The restriction we feel may not be completely in our heads, however, we do have the ability to imagine a new way forward that acknowledges and accommodates for the issues at hand.

What will help me align with my values?

The Devil (Indulgence) [Rx] + Love

The reversed Devil combined with the concept of Love speaks to a need for unselfish, large-scale, big picture compassion and care. To truly embody our values, we must look beyond our comfort zone and consider how our actions are impacting others. We must take responsibility for behaviors that do not serve us an, in turn, make us less ready to be of service to those who matter most to us. It is perhaps easy to numb our pain, grief, and suffering with self-indulgent actions, but this will not help us build the resilience that we must have in order to help cultivate a better world. We are all responsible for being the change we want to see, and this change begins with ourselves. This is not to discount or ignore the very real challenges we face that are not self-imposed. Instead, it is an invitation to examine where we do have control and how we may make decisions in those spheres of influence that are for the good of all involved.

How can I bring more beauty into my life?

Five of Pentacles (Scarcity) [Rx] + Play

Creativity is key here, as the reversed Five of Pentacles combines with the idea of Play to remind us that it does not take a lot of resources to bring beauty into our lives. the new moon in Taurus asks us to be present in our lives and to see the beauty that lies in our regular existence. We do not need to chase costly purchases or exclusive experiences in order to experience aesthetic satisfaction. Look instead to the everyday comforts that bring you joy; the delight of clean sheets on your bed, the beauty of flowers in bloom, the taste of fresh strawberries in season. Luxury does not have to be expensive. The theme of this month’s reading is reframing our expectations to have a better experience in reality. Adjusting your interpretation of beauty affords you more opportunities to enjoy it everywhere you look.

What feels like it ready to be infused with new energy?

Seven of Swords (Stealth) [Rx] + Touch

The reversed Seven of Swords combined with Touch signals that we are done keeping our desires under wraps. It’s time to be open with our needs and get real with what we want from our companions, friends, and lovers. it may feel scary or intimidating to express your truth openly, even to those who feel they know you best. But ignoring your own needs and wants will not lead to satisfaction. Of course, there are times when our past trauma makes it nearly impossible to ask for what we need for fear of being rejected. This is valid. But the presence of these fears is a signal that is is an area primed for growth and change. It is worth it to work toward developing strategies that will allow you to be completely honest with those who are here to support you. Eventually, the risk of being vulnerable will be worth the reward of having your needs met, on your own terms.

What will help me feel comforted?

The High Priestess (Intuition) [Rx] + Gift

The High Priestess reversed reminds us that our intuition is a gift, and that it is safe to trust our own ideas and judgement. We may have fallen into the trap of seeing comfort and validation from external sources — receiving likes of social media, garnering praise from our community, or achieving accolades at work. These things are lovely and are an important part of feeling like we are successful in the world. But knowing how to self-soothe is a inside job. We cannot always rely on others to make us feel good; doing so leaves us vulnerable to spinning out when there is no one there to keep things under control. We must learn to listen to our inner voice, and recognize the direction that whispers from within. Deepening our awareness of our own inner knowing can teach us how to comfort ourselves and, in turn, allow us to better navigate the ups and downs of life.

A message from the new moon.

The Knight of Cups (Romance) [Rx] + Reflecting

If we have been waiting for a knight in shining armor to come to save us, this is a sign that, for better or worse, we are actually on our own. The reversed Knight of Cups asks us to reflect on any illusions we may have that there is someone else coming to solve our problems. This perspective is not realistic, and it prevents us from taking the necessary steps to ensure our won safety, satisfaction, and happiness. Of course, there will be people in our community who are there to help, and it is reasonable to accept assistance as we move through the challenges of life. It is the expectation that others will provide that is a problem. Once again, this new moon asks us to adjust our perspective and align our expectations with what is real. Waiting to be rescued is not a strategy for success. Instead of dwelling on the challenges ahead, take some time to consider what actions are possible for you in your current circumstance. Then, step by step, unstick yourself and begin to move toward your goals.

Enjoy this month's curated Spotify playlist. I’ve chosen dreamy, introspective, and reflective songs to celebrate this new moon cycle, drawing on themes of intuition, empathy, and flow. May this playlist help you recognize where you have the power to change and give you the inspiration to take aligned action.
