Reef of Regret
My heart is a sea cave
deep, deep I dive
in the absence of air
I breathe mystery
in the filtered light
of sunken ships
mermaids drift
and spy the debris
a field of neglect
where eels dwell
in each forgotten
crevice.
Above, I swim
without convention
each wave moves me
away from shore
stars fly in the night sky
an unknown tongue
I am no sailor
trained at sea.
This life is a ship
wrecked
on the deep,
deep
reef
of regret.
