The How Did I Get Here? Tarot draws its name and spirit from the Talking Heads song "Once in a Lifetime," an invitation to stop, look around, and ask the big questions about how you arrived at this point your life.
Drawing on my experience growing up in the 80s and 90s in Southern California, I have infused this deck with a sense of the pop culture imagery that surrounded my early years. Each card in the traditional Rider-Waite-Smith tarot has been reimagined through a pop art lens and rendered in bright collage assemblage style featuring food, animals, and the artifacts of modern life.
The result is a deck that feels both familiar and surprising, inviting you to see the ancient wisdom of tarot through a fresh and whimsical eye. I hope you enjoy exploring the world of tarot symbolism through a lens that has been fractured and reassembled to reflect the disjointed and fragile nature of modern life.

Each entry opens with the “How Did I Get Here” section which speculates what might have brought you to your current situation, followed by a description of the card’s symbols and meaning. This is followed by the “How Do I Work This” section which gives practical advice on actions to take and how to move forward. Finally there is the “You May Ask Yourself” section, in which you will find 2-4 reflection questions for each card.
