The Wild Life Tarot

A unique indie Tarot deck with 78 different animal associations.

The Wild Life Tarot is a unique indie Tarot deck with 78 different animal associations.

The Wild Life Tarot was born from my love of animals and nature. Since childhood, I have been captivated with animals and their behavior.

Each card in the Wild Life Tarot is associated with a different animal, and each suit in the minor arcana is associated with a different biome.

My choice of animals for each card in the suit was also somewhat influenced by the food web, or food chain, of a given ecosystem.

Card correspondences and a brief description are included for every card in the accompanying booklet.

Each card in the major arcana includes a prompt that can be used to craft a tarot card spread or as inspiration for extended interpretation and journaling.

Each suit in the minor arcana includes a suggested card spread that corresponds to the energy of water, fire, air, or earth.

The symbols of the Major Arcana in the Wild Life Tarot are based on the original Rider-Waite Smith deck illustrations, as well as astrological correspondences.

The flora, fauna, and colors of each card follow traditional associations with zodiac sign and planetary energy.

The suit of cups is associated with the element of water. I have chosen creatures of the sea for each card in this suit.

The overall color theme is blue and gold. The traditional goblets have been replaced by teacups, a nostalgic and emotional item.

Wands are associated with the element of fire, so I chose reptiles such as snakes as lizards — animals that need heat to survive — to represent this suit.

The wands themselves are represented by branches. The overall color scheme is deep tones of coral and red.

Swords are associated with air energy, which I have represented here by adorning the suit with birds.

The swords are interpreted as various styles of knives and daggers. The color scheme is shades of purple and aquamarine.

Pentacles are associated with the element of earth and the physical world.

To represent this energy I chose creatures of the dirt — small and medium sized ground-dwelling mammals. Pentacles are represented here by crystals. The color scheme is orange and minty forest green.

The 78 cards are a standard Tarot deck size (2.75 x 4.75 inch) professionally printed on 12pt 320gsm black-core matte card stock with a protective UV coating. They feel smooth and light in your hands and shuffle easily. They are contained in a custom designed tuck box.
