New Moon in Leo 2023
Collective reading for the New Moon in Leo 2023. For this month’s reading I used the Wild Life Tarot and the Leaves of Grass Oracle. Card spread is from the Writual Planner.
Where am I right now?
Two of Cups + Time
Relationships and partnerships are undergoing cyclical transformations right now. Some community bonds are naturally coming to an end, while others are barely forming new bonds. Instead of jumping to conclusions or pushing things along, it may be better to take a wait and see approach to dealing with other people. Give things space to unfold according to their own nature, and see what develops over time.
What is influencing me?
The Chariot + Tree
You are torn between the desire to set down roots and the urge to follow many diverse paths forward. This moon cycle will be an exploration of how these two seemingly disparate urges may combine. To drive the chariot, you must have a firm and steady hand. You must be both rooted in deep knowledge of yourself, and open to the inevitable change that awaits you. Being rooted does not necessarily mean being stationary. Even the strongest trees are able to sway and bend, enjoying both a passing breeze and withstanding the strong winds of a storm. Be authentic, but not inflexible, as you travel life’s path.
What have I released since the last full moon?
Wheel of Fortune + Twilight
The Wheel of Fortune carries us through the ups and downs of life, through triumph and tragedy alike. Sometimes we are in the cheerful sunshine of life, and other times we are lost in the darkness of spiritual night. What you have come to understand, however, is that both are necessary for growth and development. We must have time to celebrate, and to mourn. Life is made up of both receiving and of loss. While the sun cannot always shine and night must eventually embrace us. You have learned, however, that the sun will always rise again, burning with it the light of joy and contentment.
What seeds am I ready to plant?
The Empress (rev) + Work
This cycle will bring an opportunity to work on compassionate boundaries with both self and others. The theme of this new moon is knowing yourself deeply. Where have you been compromising your needs in order to care for others? Have you been tending to other people’s gardens more than your own? The Leo moon calls you home, and reminds you to give yourself the same care and consideration you extend to your community. You must be able to pour from a full cup, so take the necessary steps to recharge and engage in self care so that you can continue to engage in the work of helping others.
How can I help my intentions grow?
Six of Cups (rev) + Questions
There is something that you are holding on to from your past that is holding you back from fully realizing your current intentions. Perhaps it is an expectation that things should be “the way they were.” Or you may be holding on to fears of failure (or success) that are remnants of past experiences. This new moon invites you to examine how your past is influencing your current motivations, and to release anything that no longer serves you in setting intentions that support your current ways of being in the world.
What can I rely on during this cycle?
Three of Swords + Open
Ooof, this is a rough message but I am hearing that an open heart can be broken. In being vulnerable with others, it is inevitable that we may also get hurt in the process. This is a harsh reality, but the thing to remember is that being hurt is not necessarily a bad thing. It can help us better assess our needs and recognize when we may need to make changes, alter our behavior, enter into or leave relationships, or establish more clear and firm boundaries with those we love. Pain can be a catalyst for necessary change and heartbreak, while terrible to endure, can help guide us to more secure and successful intimate experiences in the future.
